SECURE honours National Indigenous Peoples Day

On June 21, we come together to recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day - a day dedicated to honouring the rich histories, cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples across Canada.

For generations, Indigenous Peoples have lived in deep connection with the land, the same land that many of us now work on each day. We acknowledge that this history is complex, and at times painful, and that reconciliation requires more than words, it requires understanding, humility and action.

SECURE recognizes the responsibility we have to ensure our work reflects not only operational excellence but also respect for the communities whose lands and cultures intersect with our operations. We are grateful for the relationships we’ve built with our Indigenous partners, and we know that listening and learning must remain at the heart of those partnerships.

At SECURE, we are committed to building respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and deepening our understanding of their perspectives.

We encourage everyone to take a moment to learn and to actively participate in meaningful actions that support reconciliation. Your engagement matters. Ways that we can achieve this include:

1. Learn about the unique cultures and histories of the Indigenous Peoples in the areas where we live and work.

2. Read or revisiting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, particularly those that speak to the role of industry.

3. Participate in community-led events, whether in-person or virtual.

4. Reflect on how we can all contribute—individually and collectively—to a more respectful and inclusive future.

We look forward to continuing to build relationships with Indigenous communities rooted in respect, shared purpose, and a commitment to doing better; together.
