SECURE Partners With 4-H Alberta to Launch Metals4Good Program

We’re thrilled to partner with 4-H Alberta, providing a $25,000 donation and kickstarting an exciting new initiative - the Metals4Good Program! Metals4Good aims to empower 4-H Alberta clubs by teaching the importance of sustainability through metal recycling, all while raising funds for local clubs.

4-H Alberta clubs can partner with SECURE’s metals recycling locations across Alberta to have proceeds from scrap metal drop-offs donated directly to their programs. Additionally, SECURE will be donating an extra percentage of the scale price to support fundraising efforts.

About the Metals4Good Program
The Metals4Good program is designed to teach 4-H Alberta members the importance of recycling metals, while also offering a fantastic way to raise money for their clubs. Through the program, clubs can collect and recycle scrap metal, with the funds from the recycled materials going directly to the club. One of the most exciting aspects of this initiative is that metals like aluminum and steel can be recycled indefinitely, reducing waste and saving energy. Every ton of recycled steel can power the equivalent of 2.8 million homes, highlighting the real-world impact of recycling.

How It Works
Participation in Metals4Good is simple:

  1. Sign up: Clubs can request an account by emailing Metals4Good@secure-energy.com or filling out the online form. SECURE will verify club membership with 4-H Alberta to ensure eligibility. We recommend watching the webinar below for additional information too!

  2. Gather Scrap: Club members can organize scrap metal drives within their communities, collecting items such as farm equipment, appliances and even vehicles. The person delivering the scrap must mention the club’s name to ensure the funds are directed correctly.
  3. Recycle and Get Paid: After weighing the metals, a cheque will be issued to the club on the 20th day of the following month. The club with the most metal recycled (measured in dollars) will win extra rewards, including swag and a pizza party.
Important Details for 4-H Alberta Clubs
  • Prohibited Items: Be mindful that some items, like barbed wire, tires, and gas cylinders, cannot be recycled through this program.
  • Metal Types: Both ferrous (e.g., farm equipment, vehicles) and non-ferrous metals (e.g., copper, aluminum) are accepted, making it easy for clubs to gather a wide range of recyclable materials.
  • Fall & Spring Dates: The program runs from October 1 to November 30 in the fall and April 1 to May 31 in the spring.
Additionally, SECURE will be donating an extra percentage of the scale price to support fundraising efforts! For more information or to get started, email Metals4Good@secure-energy.com and we would be happy to help.
